Lower East Side

Help us finish the year strong

National environmental priorities are shifting. Our community’s commitment isn’t.

That’s why the Lower East Side Ecology Center is building an emergency fund to protect our community’s environmental progress. This Giving Tuesday, you can help ensure our work continues – no matter what.

Here’s what we achieved together in 2024:

  • 700,000 pounds of food scraps transformed into compost or as we like to call it black gold.
  • Over 600 native plants were added to Tompkins Square Park.
  • 100 + street trees thriving thanks to community care—essential support for their survival, particularly during the ongoing drought.
  • 300 new environmental leaders trained

But here’s the thing: 2025 needs to be bigger.

This end of the year, every dollar you invest takes root right here. You’ll see it in healthier trees, vibrant parks, and stronger neighborhoods. You’ll feel it in the way neighbors come together to build something bigger than ourselves.
