The Ecology Center’s Curbside Composting Building and Resident Support program is designed to help residential buildings meet the requirements of the city’s new mandatory composting initiative. Through workshops and consultations, Ecology Center staff provide property managers, superintendents, and residents with clear guidance on sorting organic waste, proper bin placement, and sanitation best practices. Additionally, we offer signage, educational materials, and troubleshooting support to address common challenges. Buildings that participate in our program receive tailored recommendations to streamline composting efforts and avoid potential fines.
To further support compliance and a successful organics program in your building, the program connects buildings with composting resources, including bin procurement assistance. We even have a dedicated helpline that provides quick answers to questions and updates on policy changes. For larger residential complexes, the program offers training sessions for staff and tenants to ensure smooth adoption. Ultimately, this initiative aims to simplify compliance, reduce waste, and contribute to a greener NYC.
