NYC is home to hundreds of community compost sites that create opportunities for their neighbors to compost food scraps locally, and learn more about composting and closed loop systems. No two sites are alike, as each one has unique needs, goals, and capacities. As your local composting expert, the Ecology Center is committed to sharing our knowledge, skills, and resources to support a vibrant composting community network in the borough of Manhattan.

Our Technical Assistance program serves sites looking to improve, scale up, or maintain a public composting program. We offer support tailored to the needs of each site, which can range from building composting bins or infrastructure, assisting with and engaging volunteers, sourcing tools and materials, hauling, or co-hosting educational workshops.
