Spring Cooking: A Celebration of Fresh Early Crops

Tuesday, March 25 6 pm–7:30 pm

Join the Ecology Center, the Center for Wellbeing and Happiness, and Amanda Henson for a very special cooking workshop as we transition to the longer, warmer days of spring!

We  will learn how to create delicious and versatile sauces using the best of early spring produce. From vibrant herbs to tender greens, attendees will explore how to harness the flavors of the season in their cooking.

Amanda is a food educator and chef, her focus has always been on creating vibrant, nourishing meals using seasonal, affordable ingredients. Amanda has a strong interest in traditional food practices like fermenting, seed-to-table cooking, and gardening—tools that I integrate into her work to make food not only flavorful but also educational and community-oriented. Her background in these practices has inspired her to connect food systems to climate action, advocating for food choices that promote both human and environmental health.

This event is open to all but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and registration is required as space is limited.

Thank you to the Lower Eastside Girls Club and Center for Well-Being and Happiness for hosting this free event. If you live, work, or go to school in LES, you can become a member for free to access more incredible programs!
