Join Partnerships for Parks and the LES Ecology Center for It’s My Park Day at Tompkins Square Park! Help activate and beautify Tompkins Square Park through a Watercolor Leaf Painting workshop led by local artist Jodie Niss, and learn how to care for street trees through a demonstration led by our staff.
We’ll also be giving away free bulbs, buckets, compost, and mulch—all available on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t forget to bring your own container!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- The event will take place at the Slocum Memorial Fountain, near the flag pole, in front of the park building.
- Each household can take home up to 15 gallons of compost and/or mulch.
- Bring your own container (sturdy bags, buckets, or bins).
- Shovels and other tools will be provided to fill up your containers
- Bringing a cart is highly encouraged to help carry your giveaways!
- The compost is made from NYC food scraps and yard waste, and is ½-inch screened.
