EcoBizNYC Timeline

The EcoBizNYC program consists of 5 easy steps, and takes only a few hours of business owners’ time over a few months.

Step 1: Meet EcoBizNYC representatives and conduct Sustainability Brainstorm

EcoBizNYC representatives discuss the program and answer your questions. We then walk through a short "Sustainability Brainstorm" to establish a baseline and get a sense of the business’s perspectives on sustainability. Your EcoBizNYC representative will also get you started by signing you up for easy free incentives.

Step 2: Sustainability Assessment

Your EcoBizNYC representative will sit down with you to conduct the Sustainability Assessment, a series of questions concerning electricity, HVAC, waste, transportation, procurement, food, retail products, water, greenspace, and employee training/community outreach.

Step 3: Energy Assessment

This is a key step in the process that is FREE and will SAVE you money. Your sustainability representative will put you in contact with an energy efficiency consultant who will conduct a free lighting and energy assessment for your business. This assessment works in conjunction with the EcoBizNYC Sustainability Assessment to provide a comprehensive analysis of your business operations. Most of the recommendations from the energy assessment can be implemented for FREE, saving you money on your monthly electric bills and reducing emissions for the neighborhood.

Step 4: Review Assessments and Set Sustainability Goals

After the EcoBizNYC representative reviewed your Sustainability and Energy Assessments we will set up a meeting to walk you through our recommendations on how to green your business and reduce your costs by explaining available incentive programs. In this meeting, your representative will also help you set goals and provide resources and vendors to achieve your goals.

Step 5: Implementing Sustainability

Implement the EcoBizNYC recommendations as informed by your goals and the EcoBizNYC Sustainability and Energy Assessment. EcoBizNYC representatives are available to help answer your questions as you implement each recommendation.

Follow Up Steps:

Complete and send EcoBizNYC Business Profile Form

Your EcoBizNYC representative will provide you with a short summary profile of your achievements. This profile will be used as your online advertising profile to show how you have achieved your sustainability goals. You can also include your own promotional materials to further illustrate how your business is going green. After your review, it will be posted on your own page within the EcoBizNYC website.

EcoBizNYC Check-ins

EcoBizNYC representatives will check-in with you on the progress of your sustainability goals.
