Sustainability-In-Action: Brown Cafe is powered by renewable electricity, reducing their demand for non-renewable sources of energy. In addition to recycling all required materials, Brown uses recycled to-go items and even made all of its chairs and benches from reclaimed wood. The cafe also signed up for Eco-to-Go to show customers its support for minimal packaging and to encourage them to use to-go items sparingly. Last but not least, Brown offers filtered tap water and is a Tap-It refill station.
Sustainability Goals: In addition to everything they are already doing, Brown plans on installing water displacers in their tank toilets, replacing paper towels with reusable towels in its employee bathroom, switching to post-consumer recycled paper products, switching to reusable rags for cleaning purposes, and buying recycled ink cartridges. The cafe is also considering getting a door sweep for its door in order to help maintain indoor temperature.
