Sustainability-In-Action: The Open Pantry conserves energy by regularly cleaning their appliances to increase efficiency and thus reduce energy consumption. The store conserves water by using low-flow aerators on all faucets and has a bike rack nearby for customers. The Open Pantry is also proud that over 50% of the products and food sold are eco-friendly. Eco-friendly products include bathroom and cleaning supplies, all natural personal care and organic foods that providing healthy options to shoppers in the community.
Sustainability Goals: The Open Pantry plans to participate in a lighting assessment to replace its old light bulbs with energy efficient CFL and LED bulbs to reduce energy consumption. They plan to install water-saving devices in their toilet to make it a low-flow toilet. They also plan to start using eco-friendly cleaning products and purchase post-consumer recycled toilet paper.
