Sustainability-In-Action: Pigments Salon is a family operated businesses that utilizes the cool air that runs between their back and front doors in the summer months; thus does not use their air conditioners. The salon does not use heat because of it’s close proximity to the boilers. The business also has space for its patrons to park their bikes.
Sustainability Goals: Pigments Salon plans on installing aerators in their bathroom and shampoo stations, which will dramatically lower their large load of water usage. They plan to upgrade all their light fixtures to conserve energy. They also plan on purchasing and using more sustainable products such as post consumer toilet paper, and water and vinegar as cleaning solutions. In the near future, the salon will take advantage of their large backyard space by planting flowers and trees.
