Sustainability-In-Action: The DJ-and-producer-oriented collection at Big City Records stretches from the late 1960s through the 1990s and is, for the most part, limited to recycled and locally obtained out-of-print and hard to find records. The store has already upgraded all their lighting to energy saving CFLs, saving money and the environment. They have a jade plant in their window to improve their air quality.
Sustainability Goals: Big City Records plans to implement the following sustainability goals. They have commited to using power strips with their equipment and turning them off when not in use. To conserve indoor air temperature, they also plan to get a cover for their AC unit for the winter. BCR is looking into getting reusable bags for customers, switching to post-consumer recycled toilet paper, and switching to reusable microfiber towels for cleaning surfaces and records.
