Sustainability-In-Action: All of Xoom’s food service items (cups, lids, straws, etc.) are made from sustainable resources and are compostable and are collected after use on-site. In addition, all of Xoom’s cleaning products are eco-friendly and most of them are bought in bulk from the Green Depot. Xoom is working with Wearable Collections, a textile recycling company, to encourage customers to donate their textiles to be recycled and reduce the amount of textiles that end up in landfills. Xoom uses local honey, juice, and milk and partners with local farms to feature seasonal hot cider and organic oatmeal toppings on the menu.
Sustainability Goals: Xoom has replaced all of its light bulbs with CFLs. Xoom is also researching renewable energy options through Con Ed. Xoom has partnered with Fourth Arts Block in supporting Pride Goes East, donated to neighborhood schools, and would like to expand its community outreach in regards to sustainability.
