Trees, Fish and Worms at the Ecology Center

Last month, the Lower East Side Ecology Center, in collaboration with A Million Trees and Trees NY, ran a class on how any New Yorker can care for his or her local street trees, which reduce air pollution and beautify our neighborhoods. The organizers demonstrated how to plant native species in tree pits for water retention and beautification, how to aerate a tree pit and apply compost—and how easy it is to order free street trees for anyone’s block. Participants were urged to adopt-a-block in their neighborhood. Full Article
